Clothes Dryers and Towel Rails are included under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025, notified via S.O. 2232(E) dated 19 May 2025 by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the BIS Act, 2016. The new QCO supersedes the earlier order issued via S.O. 4098(E) on 17 September 2024.

The objective is to ensure electrical safety, thermal control, and insulation integrity through adherence to IS 302 (Part 1):2024. This covers resistance to moisture, surface temperature limits, durability under heat, and protection from electric shock.
