Stainless Steel Wires covered under IS 6528:1995 and HS Codes 72230091, 72230092 and 72230099 are included in the Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order, 2024. The Order was notified by the Ministry of Steel through S.O. 3716(E), dated 29 August 2024, superseding the earlier QCO issued through S.O. 574(E). The original QCO listed IS 6528:1995 with the above HS Codes.
Enforcement Timeline
The 2025 amendment, issued through S.O. 5134(E) dated 20 November 2025, deferred enforcement of the applicable requirement for one year from the date of Gazette publication. Accordingly, the final enforcement date for Stainless Steel Wires under IS 6528:1995 is 20 November 2026.
