Domestic electric food mixers (liquidizers and grinders) and centrifugal juicers were brought under mandatory certification through the Kitchen Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2018, notified via S.O. 5243(E) dated 10 October 2018 by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry under the BIS Act, 2016. This Order made it compulsory that all such appliances manufactured, sold, or imported in India conform to IS 4250 and carry the ISI mark.

The Order came into effect on 1 May 2019, after which no non-certified food mixers, grinders, liquidizers, or juicers could be manufactured, stored, imported, or sold in India without BIS approval.
