Stainless Steel Cookware has been brought under mandatory quality control through the Cookware, Utensils and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order, 2025, notified vide S.O. 3850(E) dated 21 August 2025 by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This Order supersedes the earlier Cookware and Utensils (Quality Control) Order, 2023 and the Cookware, Utensils and Cans for Foods and Beverages (Quality Control) Order, 2024, except in respect of actions taken or omitted before such supersession.
