Mobile phones were notified under the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012 via S.O. 2905(E), dated 13th November 2014. The enforcement date was later extended under S.O. 2579(E), dated 21st September 2015, and finally made effective from 1st March 2016 as per S.O. 344(E), dated 3rd February 2016. The product has since been re-notified under the Electronics and IT Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 (S.O. 1248(E), dated 18th March 2021) with effect from 18th September 2021, with further amendments issued in March and July 2021.
