The product is regulated under CRS Order, 2021 (S.O. 1248(E), dated 18th March 2021) under the BIS Act, 2016, effective from 18th September 2021, further amended by corrigenda in March and July 2021.

From the enforcement date, all UPS/inverters ≤5 kVA must:
- Conform to IS 16242 (Part 1):2014,
