Commercial Electric Boiling Pans have been included under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025, issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs through S.O. 2232(E) dated 19 May 2025, under the BIS Act, 2016. This QCO replaces the earlier S.O. 4098(E) dated 17 September 2024.

Boiling pans are widely used in bulk cooking environments such as hotels, industrial kitchens, and institutional food services. Given their extended use, high voltage operation, and potential hazards, the QCO ensures these appliances meet essential safety benchmarks.

The objective is to mandate compliance with IS 302 (Part 1):2024, ensuring safety in terms of overheat protection, electrical insulation, thermal performance, leakage current control, and moisture resistance for boiling pans used in commercial kitchens.
