Single Walled Baking Ovens are regulated under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025, notified via S.O. 2232(E) dated 19 May 2025 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs under the BIS Act, 2016. This notification supersedes the earlier S.O. 4098(E) issued in 2024.

Single-walled electric baking ovens are widely used in homes, restaurants, and baking establishments. Given the heat generation and electrical components involved, regulation ensures user protection and product safety through conformity assessment.
Objective & Scope
The regulation requires all single-walled electric ovens to conform to IS 302 (Part 1):2024, covering electrical safety, insulation resistance, surface temperature, and structural integrity during operation.
