Slicing Machines are now covered under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025, notified via S.O. 2232(E) dated 19 May 2025, under the BIS Act, 2016. This notification supersedes the earlier QCO issued via S.O. 4098(E) dated 17 September 2024.

Electric slicing machines are used to process fruits, vegetables, bread, or meats in both domestic and small commercial settings. Due to the mechanical and electrical risks involved, certification under BIS ensures that only safe and tested machines reach consumers.

Objective & Scope

The objective is to mandate conformity with IS 302 (Part 1):2024, ensuring safety parameters such as insulation resistance, thermal cutoff, electric shock protection, and blade enclosure safety are met.
