The product Storage Units is brought under mandatory quality regulation through the Furniture (Quality Control) Order, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry via S.O. 801(E) dated 13 February 2025. The applicable Indian Standard is IS 17634:2022. The standard becomes mandatory from 13 February 2026 for all manufacturers, with an extended compliance window until 13 August 2026 for eligible Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) under the MSME Development Act, 2006.

This standard applies to indoor storage furniture such as wardrobes, cabinets, lockers, filing units, and similar storage units used in residential, workplace, institutional, and hospitality settings.
Exemptions Provided
The following exemptions apply:
- Products manufactured exclusively for export.
- Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) registered on the Udyam Portal are exempt until 13 August 2026, provided:
- Investment in plant and machinery does not exceed ₹25 lakh,
- Turnover in the previous financial year does not exceed ₹2 crore (as certified by a Chartered Accountant).

- Bear the ISI certification mark on the product.
