Electric Knives have been notified under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025, via S.O. 2232(E) dated 19 May 2025, issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the BIS Act, 2016. This Order replaces the earlier QCO 2024 (S.O. 4098(E)).

Electric knives are used in domestic and commercial kitchens for precision slicing of meat, bread, or vegetables. Due to their motor-driven blades and continuous usage, these appliances require standardization for safety, durability, and shock prevention.
