This Order supersedes the previous S.O. 4098(E) (2024) and mandates BIS certification and ISI marking for all regulated products.

These appliances are widely used in domestic and commercial settings for heating water, milk, tea, or other liquids. The regulation ensures that such devices are safe, durable, and standardized in terms of thermal protection, insulation, and overheat prevention.

Objective & Scope

The primary goal of this QCO is to enhance the safety of liquid heating appliances by mandating compliance with IS 302 (Part 1):2024, which covers electrical insulation, moisture resistance, temperature controls, and overall product safety in household environments.
